Even the very best institutional care setting cannot compare to the benefits an orphaned child receives when living in a foster family. Every orphan needs a family to call their own and by joining our Foster Sponsor Program, you can help us to make that a reality!

Children in China are orphaned for a variety of reasons and every child’s story is heart wrenching. China is a huge, highly populated, developing nation and the demands on social services are intense. Orphanages often have limited resources to provide even basic care, let alone to think about the emotional and psychological condition of every child. The next best thing to a child staying with their birth parents is placement in a long-term, loving foster family and sometimes these placements even become permanent through legal adoption. What then looked like a hopeless situation suddenly looks brighter!

The China Care Foster Sponsor Program is set up and operated so that you can develop a personal link with the child you sponsor and we hope that it will be a link that will last throughout the years and grow in magnitude. The $39 per month that you pay into the program is combined with donations from other sponsors and goes toward the child’s basic living costs. These funds help to pay for nutritious meals, medical care, school tuition, and daily needs.

The best way for you to develop a personal relationship with your sponsored child is to make a visit to China. However, we will help to nurture your link with the child through information sent from China. At least once a week, China Care staff in China will visit your sponsored child to ensure that he/she is doing well and receiving excellent care. While visiting the foster families, our staff take pictures, talk to the foster parents, and note the child’s situation. We use the Information gathered from these home visits to complete a standard China Care Foster Sponsor Report. These hand-written reports in Chinese are translated into English and typed into the computer. Photos of your child are linked into the report, which is then converted into PDF format and e-mailed to you on a quarterly basis.

Gift Policy
In order to treat each foster child equally, regardless of whether or not they have a sponsor, China Care will not receive or pass on any gifts, photos, letters, or similar items to sponsored children.

Foster Sponsorship Policy
Important Note: We hope that you will develop a personal interest, and ideally a personal relationship, with the child you sponsor. The best way to do that is to come to China to meet your sponsored child and foster family and we invite you to come for a visit. Your foster sponsor gift of $39 per month does not cover the whole cost of maintaining a child in foster care and your sponsored child may have several sponsors. All foster sponsor contributions are combined into the China Care Foster Care Fund which goes toward supporting all of the children in the China Care Foster Care Program. However, you can rest assured that none of your donation goes toward China Care overhead expenses because all of China Care Foundation's overhead expenditures are paid for by the China Care Board of Directors - 100% of every donation to China Care Foundation goes toward helping children. For more information on this topic, please see the China Care Restricted Funds Policy.
