Tufts China Care Club has had a very successful year. Students flock to the campus center on the days we sell our Bubble Tea, which has become a famous attraction around campus!
Another highlight has been our Saturday morning Dumplings playgroups. The Tufts Dumplings Program is geared towards children ages 6-14 who have been adopted from China. We hold these monthly events for the children and their parents to help create a support network for the families and their children. Our themes have included Zodiac Day, when we made Zodiac animal costumes, and Chinese New Year, when we made lanterns and red envelopes called hongbao. Later this month we will also be hosting a Duan Wu Jie or Dragon Boat Festival event, when we will make traditional Chinese Zongzi, which is glutinous rice stuffed with different fillings and wrapped in bamboo or reed leaves.
In April we will also be hosting the annual Lux Fashion For Change, our fourth annual charity fashion show for China Care. The event will feature 30 Tufts students modeling Marc Jacobs, MaxAzria, BCBG and other famous designers. For the first time we will also have a live DJ and guest performances by Tufts singing and dance groups. This year we have stepped up our publicity and included a raffle to draw an even larger audience and raise even more money!
